Lansing house sitting with a plan

Your checklist.
Our local eyes.

Our house-sitting service is built around scheduled check-ins rather than an overnight or live-in stay. Before you leave, we agree on the areas and routine details that matter so every visit has a clear purpose.

Mail and packages

Bring in agreed-upon deliveries so they are not left outside advertising an empty home.

Visible home concerns

Look for obvious signs of leaks, unusual temperatures, damage, or anything that appears out of place.

Lights and blinds

Adjust selected lights or window coverings according to the plan you leave with us.

Plants and small routines

Water designated plants, place bins as agreed, and handle other reasonable household details.

Visit confirmation

Receive a concise update so you know the check-in happened and how the home looked.

Pet care, when needed

If pets remain at home, ask about combining the visit with a pet-sitting plan.

A schedule that fits the absence

From a quick trip
to a winter away.

How often a home should be checked depends on the season, the property, your insurance requirements, and what you want handled. We will help shape a practical plan after learning about the home.

Short trip

Vacation check-ins

For weekends, family visits, and ordinary travel when you want mail collected and a reassuring walkthrough.

Recurring travel

Regular home visits

For work travel or frequent time away, with a repeatable checklist and straightforward updates.

Extended absence

Seasonal home watch

For snowbirds and longer stays away from Michigan, with a visit rhythm agreed upon before departure.

Pricing is quoted around the plan. Frequency, visit length, location, season, and requested tasks all affect the final price. Call us with the basics and we will talk through what makes sense.

Plan, check, update

A clear routine
before you leave.

House check-ins are arranged directly. We learn about the home, confirm the work our team can perform, and put the agreed details into a practical visit plan.

01

Tell us about the home

Share the address, dates, expected length of absence, access needs, and the household tasks on your mind.

02

Agree on the checklist

We confirm the areas to view, tasks to complete, visit frequency, communication plan, and price.

03

Receive each update

After a scheduled visit, we send a concise update and flag anything that appears to need your attention.

For Michigan snowbirds

Trade the snow.
Keep a local connection.

Weeks or months away create different concerns than a weekend trip. A consistent local check-in can help you stay connected to the property while you are somewhere warmer—without asking a neighbor to carry the whole responsibility.

Clear expectations matter

A watchful visit—
not property management.

We report what we can reasonably observe during the scheduled visit. We are not inspectors, contractors, security guards, emergency responders, or a substitute for the maintenance and monitoring required by your insurer.

01You decide how to respond if we report a concern
02Repairs and vendor coordination require separate arrangements
03Hidden defects cannot be identified during a normal walkthrough
04Emergency instructions and local contacts should be provided in advance

Good to know

Questions before
you head out.

Do your Lansing house sitters stay overnight?

No. Our current service is built around scheduled house check-ins rather than overnight or live-in care. We agree on the visit frequency and home checklist before you leave.

How often should my home be checked?

That depends on the season, length of absence, property, personal preference, and any requirements in your homeowners insurance policy. We can discuss a practical schedule, but you should confirm insurer requirements directly with your carrier.

What happens if you notice a problem?

We contact you using the communication plan established before service. For urgent situations, we follow the emergency instructions and local contacts you provide. You remain responsible for deciding and authorizing repairs or other action.

Do I need pets to use house check-ins?

No. This service can be arranged for homes without pets. If animals remain in the home, we will determine whether a pet-sitting plan is the more appropriate service.

Can you shovel snow or perform maintenance?

Routine check-ins do not include snow removal, repairs, inspections, or skilled maintenance. Tell us what you need and we will confirm what is reasonable for our team or identify tasks that require another provider.

Can I request the same employee?

You may request someone, especially if your household already knows a St. Pete’s Maids employee. We will consider the request, but scheduling depends on location, dates, and team capacity.

Where do you provide house sitting?

Our Lansing house sitters serve Greater Lansing and surrounding communities, including East Lansing, Okemos, Grand Ledge, DeWitt, and Holt. Availability depends on your address, dates, and route capacity.

From the team behind St. Pete’s Maids

Home-minded from
the very beginning.

More than 1,000 people have trusted St. Pete’s Maids inside their homes. Lansing Pet Sitters brings that same respect for the household to each scheduled check-in: arrive with a purpose, communicate clearly, and treat access to someone’s home as a responsibility.
